Save Eastridge Terrace - say "NO" to the proposed K-12 school that wants to build off Cresthill/Adelaide

Ascent Classical is a K-12 school. It has been approved by the Douglas County School Board to open in the fall of 2018. When Ascent Classical K-12 presented to the DCSD Board of Education on 6/20/17, they indicated they wanted to build a school at I-25 & Meridian/Ridgegate for best access for their study body who will be coming from all over both Douglas County and from surrounding areas to the north.

Unbeknownst to both the public and board of education directors, Ascent had submitted a request for an additional piece of land located in our Eastridge community in Highlands Ranch on May 31, 2017. This was never mentioned at the June 20th meeting when Ascent Classical K-12 received their conditional approval from the board for a location at I-25 & Meridian/Ridgegate.

At the July 11, 2017 DCSD Board of Education meeting, it became known that this prior request had been submitted on May 31st, weeks before Ascent Classical K-12 misrepresented where they were going to be located on June 20th.

Eastridge Terrace is a significant distance from the I-25/Ridgegate location they promised. Eastridge Terrace is already impacted by traffic congestion and safety issues with 2 existing high schools in the area (Highlands Ranch High School and Valor Christian High School). In addition, there are also two middle schools (Cresthill Middle School and Cherry Hills Christian Middle School) in the area. There are many elementary schools in the area including charter schools, neighborhood schools and private schools.  Many of our neighborhood schools have more seats than students due as our neighborhood grows up and graduates.

We are asking for your support for our Douglas County School Board and the Douglas County Commissioners to say NO! to the request for land in our community for a K-12 school with 750 students.  We need to preserve the safety of our residents, quality of life in our neighborhood, and resale values of our homes.
