Tell HHS to Clean Up the Supreme Court's Mess on Women's Health

The Supreme Court has issued a ruling that gives some employers the power to deny women coverage for birth control — but we can’t afford to give up the fight for women’s health. Now, the Obama administration has proposed new rules that would help clean up the mess made by the Supreme Court. It’s up to us to make sure these rules are strong enough to get the job done.

There are just a few weeks left to make our voices heard before the Department of Health and Human Services issues its final rules. Support the Obama administration’s rules and ensure that they protect women’s access to birth control, guarantee that women get covered, and require anti-birth control bosses to come clean.
To: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

We need to undo the damage done by the Supreme Court's disastrous Hobby Lobby decision. Allowing employers to refuse to pay for birth control coverage, when they are providing insurance for other services, is discrimination — plain and simple.

That's why I stand with the Obama administration and the proposed policy to prevent billion-dollar corporations from following Hobby Lobby and refusing to provide coverage for birth control. I strongly support the administration's efforts to make sure that every woman has access to no-copay birth control regardless of where she works or the religious views of her boss. Corporations — no matter how big or how small — should not be able to block a woman from accessing birth control.

As HHS drafts regulations in response to the harmful Hobby Lobby decision, I ask that:

- Billion-dollar corporations be prohibited from refusing to pay for birth control coverage. Birth control is basic health care that should be covered by employers. I support narrowly defining "closely held for-profit entity" so that most companies cannot refuse to pay for birth control coverage.

- All employees and prospective employees be made aware if their employer is refusing to pay for birth control coverage. Birth control is basic health care and people have a right to know if their employer is trying to cut off coverage for it.

- Employees receive seamless coverage for all forms of birth control. No woman should lose coverage for birth control due to her boss’ personal beliefs.

I strongly support the Obama administration's efforts to protect women's access to birth control and to prevent CEOs from deciding whether or not women have access to no-copay birth control.
