A Decision is about to be made concerning the last frontier of independent programming. RIAA, the Recording Institute Association of America, is trying to influence Washingtion to make webcasters pay a royalty which mainstream radio does not have to pay. If they succeed, these independent webcasters, who are in it only for love of music, will go out of business, many already have, because they cannot pay such royalties as 2 or 3 times their gross revenue.
THEY NEED OUR HELP

1:06 pm PDT, Jul 25 | Mr. | Ben Smith | It would ruin ppl's enjoyment of music! I for one own an online radio station (DJ Olaf's Mixing Station) and i am outraged that the governments of the world would do this!

1:36 am PDT, Jul 8 | Mr. | allan fitts | I am a constituent and I'm asking you to save Internet radio by co-sponsoring the Internet Radio Equality Act. The Copyright Royalty Board's decision to increase royalty rates for webcasters is going to turn off my Internet radio and I do NOT want that to happen. The Board's decision is grossly unfair and anti-competitive. I believe that artists should be fairly compensated for the music they make, but putting my webcasters out of business will only hurt artists more. They depend on Internet radio to get their music out to fans and build new audiences. When the webcasters go off the air, so do artists. Please co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act. Internet radio is one of the only bright spots for independent music and diversity. We NEED Internet radio. Don't turn it off. Co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act.

10:41 pm PDT, Apr 25 | Mr. | Zac Hansen | I listen to internet radio at work every day and would be very disappointed if it were to go away because the copyright board were to not reverse its decision to make internet broadcasting rediculously expensive.
11:07 am PDT, Apr 24 | Millard Watson II | |
11:23 am PDT, Apr 20 | Nick Divakar | Internet radio is much better than the limited options of AM/FM and satellite. There are no dance stations in my area, so I listen to various Internet dance stations to hear music I like. I hope they don't go away. If I like a song that I hear on an Internet station, I will buy the song to support the artist. If I am not able to hear new dance music on the Internet, I will not be buying songs. Ultimately, the artists will lose out because they will have less exposure. |
7:14 pm PDT, Apr 18 | willow jon collamer | the world would not be the same with out internet access to music. |
10:07 am PDT, Apr 18 | Cassie Baker | |
12:00 pm PDT, Apr 17 | Mr. | Steve Vandenbrooke | Internet radio has INCREASED interest in music and led to MORE record sales and great new discoveries on a personal basis. Shut them down and watch the industry die......Industry execs are the stupidest people on earth.
9:06 pm PDT, Apr 15 | Anonymous | Starve... I work as a professional sound engineer |
7:59 pm PDT, Apr 12 | Mr. | Jared Stechschulte | War. Poverty. National debt. Medical Problems. Our country is filled with BIG problems that need attened to now and all the government wants to worry about is internet radio??? That's just sad. Internet Radio has done nothing wrong. It helps people disover new bands, hence helping, not hurting, the music industry. Is it really so wrong for people to want to enjoy some tunes while surfing the net? I would say the government needs to tend to bigger problems, but internet radio isn't a problem in the first place!!!
11:12 am PDT, Apr 9 | Anonymous | It's sad that they want to stop internet radio. Like I've read in other post. You find new artist which is what music is about. Corp. america is trying to serve us what they want creating wealth. Now if it's not being copied and helping build listeners what's the problem. I'm a DJ at clubs so is there next goal to select what I play there. Come on this is horrible! Crap I wanna make my own Internet Radio Station just to help introduce new artist and help events and business get there name out. I could careless about making money from it. |
8:20 pm PDT, Mar 31 | Vincent M. Riley | If we didn't have Internet Radio, I wouldn't be aware of the new artists, and I wouldn't be buying their songs. All we would have is the few Artists that commercial radio promotes. America is about Freedom of choice, please keep our choice of music free. The RIAA is shooting it's self in the foot, and hurting Artists by going with these extremely high rates. |
7:17 pm PDT, Mar 27 | Anonymous | I can't believe the CRB on behalf of the RIAA are allowed to get away with this --if you look at what else they do - suing college students, controlling banking on the net and what you are able to buy and the fact that artists are NOT seeing all these lawsuit settlements and fees the RIAA have collected on their behalf since about 1999, I even read they are trying to reduce what they pay to artists now...how are they allowed to have this much power? They want control over ALL music and whatever distribution there is (music on myspace or used in youtube videos will be next). Indies will no longer have exposure or air-play if net radio dies. I don't think the public or Congress is aware of what is at stake here, and it's not like net radio broadcasters are profitting from broadcasting! Net broadcasters purchase music and pay royalties already. The CRB and RIAA are treating net radio as if it is piracy! |
12:34 am PDT, Mar 27 | Stephen Thomason | That's right , don't charge Them , & don't charge Us. I've been a Musician most of my life , and it's important to keep this free because it really helps to define the times We're in . The World's a little smaller now ,& our ability to communicate this universal languege that has the power to do/start/finish anything. This is a blending of the Worlds.I think that's beautiful,& see that it's not , so don't try to fix it.Besides,if You wanna get rich , go write your brains out til You get the right songs &...maybe You'll get lucky with the lumpy gravey and all.But leave Internet Radio alone .theirs enough $$ to go around in many other ways that won't make Y'all look so damb greedy! |
4:50 pm PDT, Mar 26 | Mrs. | Lynn Hebel | Not a day, perhaps not even an hour goes by without music (unless I'm sleeping). I cannot recieve any radio stations inside my house, and the only source is internet radio. I've discovered so many new artists out there and have bought LOTS of music, thanks to internet radio. I would never hear these artists otherwise. The variety online is immense - unlike commercial radio with a set playlist that repeats itself much too often.
7:59 pm PDT, Mar 22 | Ms. | Laura Fregoso | I BELIEVE IN SUPPORTING LOCAL MUSIC AS WELL AS HAVING AN AVENUE IN WHICH BANDS ARE GIVEN A CHANCE TO MAKE THEIR MUSIC KNOWN. STOP WANTING TO ALWAYS GET A "CUT" FROM EVERYONE ELSE'S HARD WORK, TALENT AND CREATIVITY. GO MAKE YOUR OWN MUSIC THEREFORE MAKING YOUR OWN MONEY IF YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO DO SO.
11:01 am PDT, Mar 21 | Ms. | Shari Scanlan |
4:31 am PDT, Mar 21 | Ms. | Sharanna Christensen | All the non-commercial bands woudnt have a chance of ever getting noticed. We need these independant radio stations because they care about us!
6:51 pm PDT, Mar 19 | Mr. | Anonymous |
5:41 pm PDT, Mar 19 | M Holder | |
9:25 am PDT, Mar 19 | Mr. | Paul Miller | The personal enjoyment of music and its associated positive effects go without saying but internet radio actually increases business because people can sample different forms without fear of wasting money on music they don't like. As a result the music buying public are less cautious in their spending habits because they know what they want. To lose internet radio is to constrain consumerism which is not good for anyone
8:22 pm PDT, Mar 18 | Mr. | Dursun Sakarya |
6:43 pm PDT, Mar 18 | Gary M Patrick | |
11:00 pm PDT, Mar 15 | Mr. | Anonymous | It would be dreary and depressing and have a big psychological impact on our lives to be without music to stimulate us and calm us down.
8:10 pm PDT, Mar 15 | Andrew J Fargo | music is love... AND LOVE IS FREE!!! it is one of the few things that can bring humanity together regardless of any barriers we put in between us- taking this away (free sources of music) or limiting our available choices will only alienate ourselves from one another... and silence the language of the soul!!! THIS MUST NOT AND WILL NOT HAPPEN! |
12:27 pm PDT, Mar 15 | Anonymous | RIAA gets more for their payola $ by eliminating the internet broadcasters. Internet radio is more democratic and not subject to the pressures from the record industry. |
11:45 am PDT, Mar 15 | Anonymous | I would go nuts . I use the music threu the day to with cleaning and taking csare of my kids . |

SAVE INTERNET RADIO
THis is not another Napster. These programs benefit consumers, artists, and record companies alike, but they must take their business practices into the future instead of trying to derail this form of media, that is only beginning to grow. Corporate America cannot spoon feed us how to dress and what kind of music to listen to forever.
CARP, the Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel, will make a decision on Tuesday that affects the future of music on the web. These programs offer the chance to listen to new music in full form, not copy form, before we decide to buy. This is something america will always thirst for NEW MUSIC. I want artists to be compensated, and these stations allow people to hear artists that they would never be exposed to on mainstream radio. I'm lost in words, for some understandable information go to saveinternetradio.org
