America was built on the principle that bringing people in from around the
world is in the best interest of the country.
But now, long shot Presidential Candidate Tom Tancredo is misleading Americans
with a new ad linking "Islamic terrorists" to immigration.
Tancredo plans to air the ad in Iowa and New Hampshire before taking it
national. His ad spreads misinformation that harms America's chances of
passing meaningful immigration reform.
Even Fox News said, "You can't deny that this is the politics of fear." And the Denver Post "New Tancredo ad a sad case of fear-mongering."
Tancredo is no stranger to harmful rhetoric. He insulted Muslims by suggesting that the United States could "take out" holy sites such as Mecca and caused an uproar in Miami by comparing the city to "a Third World country."
Shame on the congressman for trying to spread fear and misinformation. Sign the petition now and urge local TV network affiliates not to run Tancredo's misleading ad!
I am writing to request that you do not air Presidential Candidate Tom Tancredo's new television ad. Congressman Tancredo's ad, released on Monday, November 12, 2007, features a terrorist leaving a bomb in a public place.
In making the unverifiable claim that "Islamic Terrorists" have snuck into the United States across our Southern border, Tancredo is doing something analogous to yelling fire in a crowded theatre. This sort of fear mongering is harmful to American citizens and immigrants alike.

I therefore respectfully request that you do not allow the ad to be aired on your station. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
