Residents of The Highland Park Estates who OPPOSE the Medical Assisted Living Facility and wish to UPHOLD THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE'S 5:1 VOTE TO REJECT THE PROPOSAL

In a 5:1 vote, the Post Falls Planning and Zoning Commission denied the Special Use Permit for the construction of a 16-bed medical assisted living facility in the existing grounds on the northeast side of The Highlands Day Spa.  However, the decision is now under appeal and another hearing is scheduled before City Council on February 4, 2020.   In the previous Public Hearing, a written petition was submitted which contained the signatures of 262 people representing 174 households who voted NO to reject the proposal.  Out of 259 eligible homes, 183 homes voted.  95% of Highlands voters said NO.

This petition reaffirms the sentiment previously expressed at the Public Hearing: The majority of the Highlands residents continue to OPPOSE the construction of a 16-bed assisted living facility.  The builders in Texas may choose to build two 8-bed facilities, but that is another matter.  By signing this petition, we communicate our opposition and wish to UPHOLD THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE'S 5:1 VOTE TO REJECT THE 16-BED PROPOSAL.

Please attend the City Council appeals hearing in person on February 4, 2020 at 6pm at 408 N Spokane St in Post Falls, Idaho.

Update #24 years ago
LT Management in Texas has submitted an appeal to City Council for the medical assisted living facility that was previously denied. The assisted living facility does not belong or conform to The Highland Park Estates community, regardless of the size of the facility. This online petition has been revised--now asking that the City Council deny the appeal. Please pass this on to your neighbors, and ask them to sign and show up on Feb 4, 2020 at 408 N Spokane St, Post Falls, at 6pm.
Update #14 years ago
The Public Hearing was held tonight (standing room only).
Petition results:
70% response rate (183 homes voted out of 259)
174 households (95%) voted NO
The Planning and Zoning commission heard us -- out of 6 commission members, 5 voted NO to the project, and 1 voted YES.

We anticipate a final vote of NO by City Council in the coming weeks. Thanks to all who signed the petition and who stood up to speak on behalf of all the residents of The Highlands.

Respectfully,

Drs. Eric and Louisa Lavy
