As you may have heard, There are presently 12 Elephants located in Illinois, most of them have been tested for and found to be positive of TB, Many of those who handle these Elephants have also tested positive.  The USDA and other animal groups have sited and/or fined the Hawthorne Corporation and confiscated all of the Elephants. However, now, the USDA has granted permission to the Hawthorn Corporation to releise 4 of these Elephants to a Carson & Barnes (A Circus) with a Facility, which will eventually breed, or return these Elephants into Circus Acts and giving rides to our children unaware that the Elephants Are Positive TB Carriers. There is a Sanctuary In Hohenwald Tenneessee,  "The Elephant Sanctuary"  www.elephants.com has been getting ready, the proper facilities for these 12 Elephants, The sanctuary has an appropriate TB quarantine and treatment program and will be ready to accept these 12 elephants in September of this year (2005). This petition is to ask that in the name of the health of any who attend circusis, road side zoos or any other Elephant attraction. You impose  a quarantine on the Hawthorn Elephants preventing them from being separated, moved from their present location and assimulated back into the general public. The Elephant Sanctuary is willing to take these Elephants, they have the proper licensing & permits, however, have been forbidden by the State of Tenneessee to recieve them until their new barn is completed (September 2005)
