End Water Pollution from Mountaintop Removal Mining

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: Earthjustice
Now is the time to do what's right: Put a stop to the devastation of our rivers, streams and headwaters caused by mountaintop removal mining.

Help get the message to Congress: we will not stand for coal companies to destroy our mountains and pollute our water! The Clean Water Protection Act, which would restore previous rules against dumping mining waste into our waters, is a critical step in preventing the destruction of our most precious natural resource.

Sign this petition to support the Clean Water Protection Act and protect our precious waters from being filled with millions of tons of waste from mountaintop removal mining.

Dear Congressmember [Name],

I, along with Earthjustice and its partners, the Appalachian Center for the Economy and the Environment, Coal River Mountain Watch, the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition, the Sierra Club and the West Virginia Highlands Conservancy, support the Clean Water Protection Act and ask that Congress take immediate action to pass it.

I am appalled that coal mining companies have been allowed to get away with dumping mining waste into our waters, doing irreparable harm to the rivers, streams and lakes that our communities and ecosystems depend upon.

I demand immediate action to protect our waters from further permanent destruction. The Clean Water Protection Act, which would restore previous rules against dumping mining waste into our waters, is a critical step in preventing the destruction of our most precious natural resource.

I am standing up for what's right, and you should too! Pass the Clean Water Protection Act and protect our rivers, streams and headwaters for the health and enjoyment of future generations.

Sincerely,
