The head of Gov. Pat McCrory's environmental agency launched a blatant attack on NC's clean renewable energy and we need your help to tell him this is unacceptable.
The Secretary of DEQ's plan would essentially gut the state's Renewable Energy Portfolio program and set up significant new hurdles to solar power in our state. In 2015 alone, North Carolina's clean renewable energy industry added more than 3,100 new jobs while helping to transition to cleaner energy sources. This makes Gov. McCrory's environmental secretary’s plan all the more perplexing.
It's astounding that this attack against clean renewable energy is coming not from ExxonMobil or Duke Energy, but from the leader of North Carolina’s environmental protection agency.

To Governor Pat McCrory:
I am appalled to learn that the head of the Governor's Department of Environmental Quality has put forward proposals which will effectively halt the progress of our successful clean renewable energy industry. The Secretary of DEQ's plan to declare nuclear power as a renewable energy source would completely destroy the state's Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard. Equally troubling is DEQ's sudden desire to increase the burden and difficulty to construct more solar power in our state.
I urge the Governor to demand that DEQ leadership cease this attack on North Carolina's job creating clean renewable energy industry.
