Support the Freedom of Choice Act

The Supreme Court's decision to uphold the Federal Abortion Ban - ignoring three decades of precedent requiring protections for women's health - is a setback for all Americans who believe politicians should not make our private, personal medical decisions!

But there is something you can do to fight back. Support the Freedom of Choice Act that will restore the reproductive rights recognized under the vision expressed in 1973 in Roe v. Wade. The Freedom of Choice Act is legislation that would put Roe v. Wade into law, and guarantee the right to choose for generations to come.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a dissenting voice in the 5-4 vote, called the decision "alarming" and said it "cannot be understood as anything other than an effort to chip away a right declared again and again by this court...." The door is now open for politicians like George W. Bush and anti-choice lawmakers to launch more aggressive attacks on safe, legal abortion, without any regard for women's health.

Help get the Freedom of Choice Act on the books! Urge your members of Congress to cosponsor the Act by signing the petition.

Dear [Decision Maker],

With the Supreme Court's recent decision on the Federal Abortion Ban, the Court moved in a direction that threatens women's freedom and privacy. FOCA will secure the right to choose by establishing a federal law that will guarantee reproductive freedom for future generations of American women. Since Roe v. Wade, a woman's right to choose has been systematically eroded by anti-choice legislators at all levels of government. More than 500 anti-choice measures have been enacted in the states since 1995, essentially rolling back this fundamental right for many women. We need the protection of FOCA now more than ever before.

I urge you to stand with the majority of the country, which does not want to see Roe v. Wade overturned, and cosponsor the Freedom of Choice Act.
