Help save the Beeliar Wetlands of Australia

The Beeliar Wetlands of Western Australia are home to countless threatened and vulnerable species.

But the West Australian government's plan for a four lane, five kilometre extension of the Roe Highway through the Beeliar Wetlands would damage the ecosystem irreparably.

The wetlands are home to threatened and vulnerable flora and fauna, including Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo, Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoo, Southern Brown Bandicoot, Graceful Sun Moth, Lined Skink, Peregrine Falcon, Spotless Crake, Buff-Banded Rail, and the King Spider Orchid.

Thousands of Australians have opposed the project, with 3,200 public submissions demonstrating the strong long standing community opposition. Over 160 appeals to the EPA decision are still under consideration.

Furthermore, there are transport alternatives to the project that are sustainable. The government has long ignored suggestions to reduce congestion by moving more freight on rail, improving city planning and investing in alternatives like light rail.

Only 20 per cent of the original Beeliar Wetlands remain – and what’s left must be preserved and protected. Please sign and share the petition to help save the Beeliar Wetlands from development.
