To kill so many beagle puppies is one of the most cruel things a human could do! All animals have feelings and should be treated the same! We are animals, so imagine people doing the tests on you instead of the beagles! its exactly the same thing! only dogs have a harder time expressing their pain! i own a beagle myself and i know that they are highly sensitive dogs! From experience i know that beagles will allow you to do a lot to them because they are so loyal! They try to put up with it, but even if they don't make too much of a fuss they are still in pain! and to kill so many innocent dogs!!!!! Thats against human rights! |

Medical experiments on animals just has to stop. This is the year 2002, we don't need to do this. I believe that the people who practice these atrocities on animals are sadistic evil humans who have an extremely warped sense of right and wrong. I'd rather die of cancer than live knowing what is being done in the name of "research". I mean that. That doctor (and others like him) should be thrown out of his job and locked up in prison for murder for the rest of his life. Kat |

Michal Berens, a cancer researcher at the Barrow Neurological Institute of St. Josephs Hospital and Health Center in Pheonix AZ, has been torturing and wasting the lives of hundreds of innocent beagle puppies.
First Berens operates on pregnant beagles by injecting cancer cells under the skin of her developing puppies -a procedure that takes anywhere from 4 - 14 hours. However at least 75 percent of the puppies are stillborn or aborted. At approximately six months of age Berens removes the tumors from under the skin of the "survivors" and implants them into their brains via holes drilled into their skulls. Of the estimated 471 dogs used by Berens since 1990, "two successful fetal surgeries and tumor implants have been published and documented." Thus the failure rate of his project is between 95 and 98 percent.
Arizona State University (ASU) recognized that something was amiss with Berens experments and decided to end its support. It is time the National Institiute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and St. Joseph's do the same. We hope you will stand up and stop supporting this cruelty.
