Two year old Wang Yue, also known as Yueyue, was run over twice by two different drivers who left Yue for dead. Eighteen people passed by this little girl, before someone finally picked up her heavily injured body and delivered her to her mother. A few days later, five year old Xiong Maoke was hit head-on by a truck, which allegedly struck her twice to make sure she was dead.
In China, many are quick to note that it costs more money to pay for hospital bills than to contribute to a funeral, and many Chinese citizens are scared to help or report on tragedies like these in fear of high-profile law suits and fines.
Outraged citizens are working to pass new good Samaritan laws that protect those who do intervene in these types of situations and punish those who do nothing. In memory of Yueyue and Xiong Maoke, prevent events like this from ever happening again. Urge President Hu Jintao to pass laws that protect good Samaritans!
Dear President Hu Jintao,
It is extremely saddening and unfortunate that two children died because people were too afraid to help them. No one should have to hesitate to do a good deed for another.
The lives of 2-year old Wang Yue and 5-year old Xiong Maoke, victims of hit and runs, could have been saved if someone attempted to come to their aid or at least alert authorities.

Good Samaritans should be rewarded, not punished for helping those in need. I urge you to pass new laws that would protect the good Samaritans that find it in their hearts to lend a helping hand.
