Join Kyra Sedgwick -- Urge Congress to Stop Global Warming

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund

"We can choose a better future -- based on clean energy and clean jobs. Tell Congress to act now on global warming -- before the climate crisis brings our planet even one degree closer to destroying our future." -- Kyra Sedgwick

Research indicates that a rise of just two degrees Centigrade in global temperatures would expose millions of people to drought, hunger and flooding.

As we hover a mere two degrees from this irreversible damage, Congress needs to pass legislation that:

* Sets enforceable deadlines to cut global warming pollution by 80% by 2050,
* Dramatically increases the production of more fuel-efficient vehicles and cleaner fuels, and
* Requires utilities to generate 25% of their electricity from renewable sources such as wind, solar, and geothermal power.

To prevent the catastrophic outcomes of global warming, tell Congress to act now by passing tough global warming legislation.

deadline: 9-18-2009
goal: 20,000

The world's leading scientists are now agreed that:

* Global warming is a clear threat to the entire planet, including current and future generations of humankind,

* Allowing temperatures to rise more than another 2 degrees Fahrenheit threatens to trigger the irreversible melting of the Greenland ice sheet, a 20-foot rise in sea levels, and the extinction of species,

* Our only chance to avert such catastrophic outcomes is to act now to reduce global warming pollution,

* Stabilizing the world's climate demands that current levels of U.S. global warming pollution be cut 25% by 2020 and 80% by 2050.

We have to buy oil from areas that hate us or are environmentally sensitive or destroy our own land to get the coal and uranium( moutuain top removal)-we have abundant windswept areas, 2 long coasts, geothermal hot spots, high sun areas and enginuity- lets use them to demonstrate that yes a renewable economy works to regain our prestige and our security!

We as a people and country need to take this problem seriously. And without the help of the government to create legislation, what does that say to the rest of the world about the United State???

It's only a few degrees and glaciers will melt and costal cities will flood. That's it.

Although some skeptics may not believe in global warming, I feel it is best to take action since it won't hurt to do so, but not taking action could be harmful to current and future generations as well.
