It's Your Choice: Endorse Hillary's Health Care Plan!

Target: Hillary Clinton
Sponsored by: Hillary Clinton for President
Affordable. Quality. Choices. Do any of these words describe your health coverage? If your answer is no, you're not alone – 47 million Americans don't even have health insurance, and millions more are struggling to afford low-quality coverage.

We need a new plan, and Hillary Clinton has one.

Hillary's American Health Choices Plan covers all Americans and improves health care by lowering costs and improving quality. It speaks to American values, American families, and American jobs.

Specifically, the American Health Choices Plan will:
  • Offer New Coverage Choices for the Insured and Uninsured
Americans can keep their existing coverage or access the same menu of quality private insurance options that their Members of Congress receive.
  • Lower Premiums and Increase Security
This plan reduces costs and ensures that job loss or family illnesses will never lead to a loss of coverage or exorbitant costs.
  • Promote Shared Responsibility
This plan ensures that all who benefit from the system share in the responsibility to fix its shortcomings.
  • Ensure Affordable Health Coverage for All
Hillary's plan outlines specific policies to ensure affordable, high-quality coverage for all Americans, including tax credits for working families to help pay their premiums and a small business tax credit to help defray the costs of covering employees.
  • A Fiscally Responsible Plan that Honors our Priorities
This plan builds on Senator Clinton's broader agenda to modernize the heath systems and reduce wasteful health spending.

I became disabled in 1999 and was lucky enough to be continued on COBRA from my job until I was approved for Social Security Disability in early 2003 (my ex-boss was good enough to continue me far longer than required). However, my husband has been employed at a job for the past 18 years which provides no health insurance coverage nor even the opportunity to purchase it through group coverage from the employer. I had checked into the cost of an individual policy for my husband, who is in his mid-50s, and the cost was prohibitive ($650 for coverage for him alone with a very high deductible). We could not afford to purchase this on his salary and just my disability. In November, 2007 he had to have an emergency triple bypass operation and in February this year, he had to have an emergency carotid endarterectomy. We currently owe hospital and doctors' bills to the tune of nearly $200,000.00. There is no way we will ever be able to afford to pay these bills, and I'm simply happy that my husband is alive. To top things off, however, he needs to have a second carotid endarterectomy on the other side, but the hospital called us last week to say that they would not do the operation because they have not been paid for the prior two operations. Therefore, we can't even receive medical care. I guess he will have to wait until he has another stroke before he can have the other side done. Thank you for all your help.
