334 6:42 am PST, Nov 1 Mr. Anonymous 28 Cairns Australia You've neglected to mention free-trade colonisation of the planet, the strategic looting of the worlds sovereign economies and the current looting of the worlds western workers and the machine tool capacity of their nations. There are too many examples. Read Chomsky and Vernadsky. We are two generations away from slavery if the monetarists win. They happen to be using britain right now. Read your economic history.
333 2:29 am PDT, Oct 27 Mr. Atay Akbiyik 41 Brisbane Australia Most of what I wish to say has been said but all I can say is that most of the world's trouble hotspots are direct legacies and machinations of the Brits. The dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire created huge artificial borders in the Balkans and in the Middle East that now is the bloodiest region in the world. As well as South Asia (the whole mess with India/Pakistan/Bangladesh) is all because of maps drawn up in London. They went out of their way to not only divide and conquer, but make sure that they could never become too powerful to rival Britain or stand up for themselves.
332 3:08 pm PDT, Oct 20   John Doyle 32 Dublin Ireland As an Irishman its about time! Thank God someone is recognising our holocaust.
331 5:07 am PDT, Aug 29 Mr. Evan Gorman 0 Piccadilly Australia How exactly is this "Historical Investigation of British Atrocities" supposed to help? What is it meant to achieve? The British killed literally millions of people in wars of aggression. Both in "legitimate" military actions and illegal massacares like aftermath of the Boxer Revolution in China, or in fighting for the Whites in post World War One Russia. They deliberately started famines in places they wanted to subdue the population but couldn't do it militarily (e.g. in the province of Munster, Ireland in the 15th Century). They invented the concentration camp for the Boer war. They deliberately murdered the people of Dresden in World War 2 not for any military reason but just because they could. In the invasion of Normandy the Allied bombing and shelling killed more French people than the Germans had killed during the whole war. The list of possible charges is endless. You just have to open a history book or turn on the History Channel. But what would an investigation achieve? In a world of 24hr news they couldn't possibly get away with a repeat of the likes of Bloody Sunday. Speaking of Bloody Sunday that particular investigation started in 1998 STILL hasn't handed down its findings 11 years later. They are due in Autumn 2009. It has cost over 200million GBP. The lawyers are loving it. No one will be prosecuted. No one will pay for their crimes. There's no guarantee that the tribunal will find anyone at fault.

326 3:56 am PDT, Jun 11 Mr. Rajendra Kumar Dayal 73 Adelaide Australia For far too long British Historians gave painted Britain in colours of Belevolence when in reality in the pursuit of wealth they brought about death in the millionsas well as destroyed the cultures of peoples all around the world. Further they pillaged and sucked the blood of their colonies. Not only did the colonies serve for cheap goods [pricves set by trhe British] they also served as dumping gropunds for the "so-called" superior goods from the UK. Wjhen I worked in Zambia every government e4stablishment had the same lamps supplied by British companies.
325 11:03 am PDT, May 3   Peter O'Breen 0 Derry Ireland British lies should be exposed...coutries like the USA have been learning too much from this tyranic nation
324 10:57 am PDT, May 3 Mr. Paul O'Dochataigh 31 Belfast Ireland Murdering Brit hypocrits
323 10:05 am PDT, May 3 Mr. Craig Murray 31 Belfast Ireland British state murderers should be seen for what they are.
322 3:20 pm PDT, Apr 11   Shane Ua Neill 56 . United Kingdom The English are responsible for the political turmoil in many parts of the world today. The native peoples who were exploited and destroyed, are now fighting back. England will in due course be itself destroyed, from within and without.
321 12:45 pm PDT, Apr 6   Matthew Yates 30 Fernandina Bch United States
320 5:40 pm PDT, Apr 4   Jake Zywek 21 loughborough United Kingdom There is no getting away from it.The English committed genocide in Ireland and the descendants of those that perpetrated it must be held accountable.
319 4:40 am PST, Mar 1 Mr. scott meech 39 melbourne Australia its about time, maybe a court case isn't needed but its time to own up
318 7:59 pm PST, Jan 9 Mr. Sameer bhardwaj 31 Delhi India Brits should apologise for what they have done to indians during colonial times and return our assets back to us
317 4:42 am PST, Dec 30 Mr. Anonymous 60 jarow United Kingdom The idea of Britishness is absurd, monarchy and such is nothing to be proud of at all. In fact we british should be ashamed of our history. The rulers and their cohort cronies the aristocracy have been and still are responsible for the murder of millions of people worldwide. The british people are really stupid if they believe the garbage of queen and country and all of the crap that goes with it. If these flag wavers studied history they would understand that their so called elite class have been nothing other than cold blooded murderers in order to further their rich life style which they built on the lives of their own countrymen and the innocent blood of oppressed nations. If you look at the truth and stop making feeble excuses to exonerate the british from the atrocities they are guilty of maybe other nations will loose their disgust of the british self rightuous patriotic fool who is truely misguided and is far too easliy lead into the british elite trap of justification for their despicable crimes
316 7:23 am PST, Dec 9 Mr. David Nisbet 21 Kirkintilloch United Kingdom
315 6:54 am PST, Dec 8   Gareth Duffy 0 Ammanford United Kingdom Maybe we should Historical investigations against America for example for these crimes too. Bloody Hypocrites. http://members.iinet.net.au/~gduncan/massacres_axis.html US forces shooting a German Red cross soldiers in belguim in 1944 is definatley worth a look. Maybe we should investigate the Laconia incident. How many Civilians, British, Italian and Polish died in that deliberate friendly fire incident.
314 6:25 am PST, Dec 7   Gareth Duffy 18 Ammanford United Kingdom I really can't believe you people. No American can justify slating the British especially with the US's history with their Native American and African Americans. The way many Irishmen comment seems to be that they think they are completely innocent. The Irish were some of the most ruthless men around. How many Welsh people did they butcher in past invasions of the British Iles, when Wales was fighting off Saxon, Viking, Norse and Scottish invasions? Talk about kicking a wounded man when they're down. The Irish prospered off the in fighting in Britain and even sought to keep Britain divided for their benefit. I don't see many jabs at the Scandinavia people because their ancestors (Vikings) conquered Ireland . Was it too long ago to matter? Well half of the awful British actions mentioned here are centuries old. Ireland For god sake when the Irish migrants left for the US during the Irish Potato Famine they were faced with bloody conflict. Before they even set foot on the US they were kindly provided a gun and carted off to the nearest battle of the civil war. Its because of some here that there are wars and never peace in this day and age. You refuse to let go of the past and thus never let wounds heal. There can never be a peaceful world with people like you ranting on about events that happened centuries ago. Your bloody grown men bickering. Bickering which costs the lives of young men and women because of the wars your kind start over stupid debate. I'm a Welshman and a Brit and I don't hate every Englishman because their Kings ordered them to fight us and destroyed my countries hope of independence. I don't hate Germany because a fanatic Austrian had millions of Jews killed. Hey what about Hiroshima and Dresden was that justified. What about American war profiteering and how a Bankrupt Britain that had fought two world wars defending the rights of millions had to pay ford motor company millions in compensation because their factories in Germany that were building tanks to kill Allied troops with were bombed by the RAF. As a result Britain couldn’t even afford to help her own people. You need to stop ranting behind that computer screen and go out and meet the people you slate. Its only people like Tomás Harrington that sees that you need to forget the past and focus on now to reach peace. I don’t deny Britain has its fair share of unjustified actions. But to be condemned by Nations who have a horrid past themselves is just wrong. British and Britain is a word born from Rome that in ancient times encompassed the regions of Wales, Cornwall and Cumbria. It is used today to refer to Englishmen, Welshmen, Scotsmen and Irishmen. And some of the comments here has offended my country that is Wales. A nation that in its whole history has shown no Aggression to any except while defending herself. The US , Ireland, India, Scotland, South Africa even the neutral states like Sweden etc can never claim that. And by the US condemning all Britain for her past, you offend your History and you condemn the title America a name given by a Welshman to the land of the US. And to ‘e norval’: ‘The British and their Edomitic pals owe us and one day we are coming to get you British and Edomites to even the score. The victims are crying out aloud for revenge!!!!!!’ Peace doesn’t stand a chance with people with a mentality like this in the world. As a teenager I'd never thought I'd be ashamed of the world I live in. But you Guys really have shown this worlds true colours.
313 4:59 am PDT, Sep 11 Ms. Cliodhna Crowley 26 Cork Ireland The British government have been convicted by the court of human rights on the treatment of civilians in NI. Maybe its time that a full investigation occured
312 1:47 pm PDT, Sep 2   Brian Vincent Hogan 39 vancouver Canada "The truth will set you free". We owe it to future generations to tell the truth about what occured.
311 1:15 pm PDT, Aug 21 Mr. Tomás Harrington 33 Dublin Ireland The British were no worse than any of the other civilisations of their time - For Gods sake if the Irish Clans hadn't been so divided themselves intitially they would have done the same thing to the English. All colonized people were abused by the victor but considering the year in now 2008 isn't it time move on and solve the problem of now instead of constantly raking up the past?

306 10:41 pm PDT, Jun 26 Mr. S. Sanyal 62 Kolkata India British killed 300 ex-INA at Nilganj near Barrackpore. They had also perpetuated tremedous atrocities against the Indian people at several times which require to be documented. NOtable among them is the withholding information regarding Netaji Subhas Ch. Bose.
305 9:55 pm PDT, Jun 26   Jason Haran 28 Chicago United States The Brits plundered the entire world. They destroyed nations and peoples with their greedy quest. They sould be held accountable.
304 7:34 pm PDT, Jun 22 Mr. Seth Stern 0 East Brunswick United States
303 12:18 pm PDT, May 23   dan klein 48 orange United States
302 6:37 pm PDT, May 6   Fiona Newson 29 Launceston Australia
301 10:16 am PDT, May 2 Mr. Dan Peel 0 Scottsdale United States The history of British atrocities during its meglomaniacal "empire building" are fairly well chronicalled yet little read or fully understood. When we talk about the great atrocities of the world over our history, Britain is never mentioned. Shameful! When the powerful oppress and occupy the weaker, "terrorism" (sometimes a tactic of survival)is inevitable. The U.S. is repeating this mistake now. We don't seem to learn from history (especially silent/hidden history).
