Stop the capture and trade of dolphins in The Solomon Islands.

  • by: Earth Island Institute

As featured in the Animal Planet Channel mini-series, "Blood Dolphins," the Solomon Islands are playing a tragic role in the cruel capture, trade, and killing of dolphins. These tiny Pacific islands are at the center of a multi-million dollar trade in live dolphins that is cruel and unsustainable.

Dolphins have been ripped from their families and crated off to Mexico, Dubai, and the Philippines. Foreign operatives have made millions of dollars while ripping off the natural treasures of the Solomons.

Urge the Solomon Islands Ambassador to the UN and USA and the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources end this brutal practice.

We respectfully urge you to immediately stop the capture and trade of dolphins in the Solomon Islands.

Most nations prohibit the capture and sale of dolphins swimming in their waters. It is time for the Solomon Islands to do the same.

Further, a landmark decision has been made by many villagers to stop the killing of dolphins. These villagers deserve community development support for alternatives that do not sacrifice dolphin lives.
