2,004 7:23 am PDT, Oct 7 Mrs. Anonymous 52 Female Kansas yes I do. I guess I have it. Never knew it till I got a blood test to see if I had RA. Guess what I am positive for Hep C. I never even did drugs.
2,003 7:27 am PDT, Sep 2 Ms. Deborah Putnam 45 Female California Yes.
2,002 3:40 am PDT, Aug 21 Ms. sara thomas 45 Female Washington yes, need to find a cure for this disease. it's been too long in waiting. we have been ignoring th importance of finding a cure and if the health plan goes public we fear obama will deny many peple with diseases of this sort any proper med care!
2,001 6:29 pm PDT, Aug 6 Mr. alan putterman 45 Male Texas
2,000 10:21 am PDT, Jul 1 Ms. Anonymous 55 Female California

1,998 10:06 am PDT, May 28   katherine grace 25 Female California yes
1,997 7:22 pm PDT, May 5   Randy Madara 57 Female Florida Of course, it is..Would be great if our medical practioners would consider symptoms and do blood assays before telling you you have chronic fatigue syndrome..Also ..for genotype 1 alternative research needs to be greatly enhanced and funded since typical protocol is basically of no use.Blessings!
1,996 6:16 am PDT, Apr 6   Anonymous 25 Male   Yes
1,995 7:59 am PST, Mar 5 Ms. Dedi Patterson 56 Female Georgia Yes! More people need to be made aware of it so they don't have to wait until they are in their 50's to find out it is too late!
1,994 12:55 pm PST, Mar 4 Ms. Jane Bair 58 Female Oregon It is and can not be debated. I've had it since the 1970s, and am only beginning to shbow decomp of my liver. I am a nurse now and have taken pretty good care of myself for years. However, my husband who contracted it at the same time as me wasn't so lucky. He passed away in 2005 after getting cancer. I now must be self supporting which is becoming increasingly difficult. I can't believe people are aware of our plight, and esp. medicines being kept from us that we know will cure us, due to lack of funds. They would never do that to a cancer pt. why hcv pts.? Jane
1,992 3:24 am PST, Jan 16 Ms. liz llewellyn 38 Female   i am not sure but research into all medial conditions can only be beneficial to all people in the world
1,991 5:45 pm PST, Jan 13 Mr. Mic Hudson 51 Male Texas I'm uncertain what classifies an epidemic, and where (bird flu may not be here currently but is considered so elsewhere and it continues it's migration). I do know that victims cross all demographic boundarys and from that standpoint it might qualify as an epidemic. If one were going to fund it, better to fund it now (before it becomes an pandemic). I am not infected but I know of several who are, one who is a very close friend. The fact that I know more than one might also suggest it could qualify as an epidemic. How many would one have to know personally before you would consider it an epidemic?
1,990 6:26 am PST, Jan 12 Mr. nasib zaman 28 Male Louisiana no
1,989 8:51 am PST, Jan 6   Anonymous 36 Male California

1,987 6:17 pm PST, Dec 23   elaine drake 38 Female Georgia yes, both my husband and i have it we are worried about our kids
1,986 3:34 pm PST, Dec 23   Donna Triplett 58 Female Illinois Yes I do .... I think that HCV research should be much more agressive than it is. I have HCV and during my first round of treatment my insurance would not approve rescue drugs when needed. I am now waiting for the next round of treatment to be approved.
1,985 1:06 pm PDT, Oct 27 Mrs. Angela Raines 49 Female Mississippi I do know that this is just as bad and big as the C word!
1,984 11:51 am PDT, Oct 27   dana burgess 24 Female Connecticut I am currently living with it. And it is a struggle everyday with the medications. I believe everyone should be tested no matter what, it should be a free thing just like anonomous HIV testing. There should be more education on it. Alot of people are living with this and do not know it!!!
1,983 6:38 am PDT, Sep 18   Rutilia Bautista 44 Female Florida My husband has just been diagnosed with hcv. We have no insurance, he is not getting treatment. I hope he can fight it somehow. We have a seven year old daughter, we need him with us.
1,982 5:08 pm PDT, Sep 7 Ms. ronda seal 39 Female Michigan definately! I also have HCV and am living one day to another.I must hide my condition from people so that I won't be looked at as some kind of monster.I'm not,I'm just scared.I have no health insurace and am receiving no treatment.I don't won't to die!

1,973 4:10 pm PDT, Jun 22 Mr. geore contreras 45 Male Texas yes its a terriable virus that will kill no one should die from this mr gates your help would be so much appreciated
1,972 9:17 pm PDT, Jun 1   Deanna Rudel 37 Female Texas Definately!! My husband was diagnosed over 6 years ago, six years of hell! It not only kills their bodies slowly but it also kills your marriage and your spouses life also! The interferon/rebatol treatment makes you so sick that you think you are going to die, and it almost did kill my husband, the Dr. had to take him off after 10 months instead of going the whole year of treatment! It also BURNED up alot of his body, and didn't work, his viral count is shooting through the roof! He will die from this horrible disease, and so will millions of others if someone doesn't find a cure soon, or at least a treatment to prolong their lifes.
1,971 4:09 pm PDT, Jun 1   Reba White 50 Female Texas HCV is the epidemic that no one is talking about or getting tested for. I just lost my brother today to HCV that had progressed into cancer....he was 46 years old and was diagnosed in Aug of 2007. Due to this my partner and I were tested last week and both our test returned a positive of exposure, we should have our other results this week. Tell everyone to get tested. I didn't realize that straws used for snorting and nail salons were other ways of contacting the virus. There also seems to be a link with the HTLV Virus that our government isn't acknowledging. Please Mr. Gates find this as a worthy cause for your backing.
1,970 4:43 pm PDT, May 22 Mr. Ed Ames 54 Male Montana It's all a hoax Mr. Gates, there is no epidemic, it's all a ruse to extort money from you. It's going to effect someone you know, someone you love, then it will be too late.
1,969 3:51 pm PDT, May 12   Anonymous 53 Female New York Yes, absolutely!
1,968 9:31 pm PDT, May 8 Mr. paul bynon 54 Male Pennsylvania Yes i do.It is one of several set of circumstances bringing our great nation to its knees.Anyone with an abundance of material wealth has great foresight therfore they must know and realize we're in alot of trouble.
1,967 5:39 pm PDT, May 7   Ellen Krauss 55 Female New York
1,966 1:44 pm PDT, May 7 Ms. Christine L. Bogan 55 Female Michigan
1,965 8:22 am PDT, May 7   Anonymous 52 Female New York Don't know.
1,964 7:44 am PDT, May 7 Ms. Beth Kahn 53 Female New Jersey Yes it is..Some people dont even know they have it..My cousin and her husband have it I myself have it, and so many friends...This is deadlier than aids, believe or not....So please Bill Gates, you can do alot to help this issue, dont hesitate, because it can even happen to you...Go for a check up, because so many people find out too late in life.
1,963 8:28 pm PDT, Apr 23 Mrs. Anonymous 20 Female California my husband has Hep C and its incrediably hard. the treatment didnt work, so now we have to wait 5-10 years for a nother new treatment the provides hope for a cure. but by then he might not be able to make the treatment. yes it is an epidemic!
1,962 6:12 am PDT, Apr 23 Ms. Deborah Foster 52 Female New Jersey It's on the rise. My Mom was diagnosed with HCV ten years ago and was believed to have contacted the virus 30 years prior from a blood transfusion. She recently passed away from colon cancer that metastasized to the liver. The blood is tested now a days but 30 years ago it was not. Is research needed....what do you think?
1,961 8:08 am PDT, Apr 15   Christine Stachnik 40 Female Michigan
1,960 7:09 am PDT, Apr 1   Anonymous 50 Female Michigan Yes--Thank you, Bill Gates! More research must be done to find treatment and a cure for the HCV virus. Since it does not present immediate symptoms, many people do not even know they carry the virus! They are accidentally infecting others! Everyone should take a blood test to be certain they are HCV- free. Great insight to Mr. Gates!
1,959 8:13 pm PDT, Mar 31   J Green 25 Female Colorado Hep C is fortunately becoming a more recognized epidemic. Unfortunately there is still so little we know about it though it continues to kill more and more people. I contracted it from a blood transfusion when I was in the hospital with a childhood cancer. I am hoping that we will learn more and perhaps find a cure soon before it claims mine and others lives.
1,958 8:09 pm PDT, Mar 31 Mr. Wesley Struble 29 Male Michigan
1,957 6:39 pm PDT, Mar 31   Sherry Green 23 Female Illinois Yes. There needs to be more public awareness about this disease.
1,956 2:22 pm PDT, Mar 31 Mr. Jim Jeffries 49 Male Michigan Yes. I have several friends, including one medical doctor, who have become accidentally infected. The Gates Foundation is very powerful - please help by helping to fund research (www.hepcfund.org).
1,955 2:17 pm PDT, Mar 31 Mr. Anonymous 27 Male Michigan
1,954 2:09 pm PDT, Mar 31 Mr. Richard A. Schaffer 27 Male Michigan Yes
1,953 2:00 pm PDT, Mar 31 Mrs. Deborah Green 56 Female Michigan Please help! I run Greenview Hepatitis C Fund (www.hepcfund.org) to raise awareness of HCV and funds for research, currently at the University of Michigan. Last year we donated $10,000 to the U of M. I don't have the clout you do. Please help and get behind this issue!
1,952 12:47 pm PDT, Mar 19 Ms. Anonymous 49 Female Illinois Yes; slow, then slowly sucks your life untill you finally realize what you have lost. IT'S so small a virus that our BLOOD is a BIOHAZARD. By the time your out of options, those options (current medical treatment)will have chemicaly fried the life out of you...and your left to fight for a little health.
1,951 8:34 am PDT, Mar 17   M. CARY 46 Female Kentucky Yes.

HEPATITIS C VIRUS (HCV) NEEDS FUNDING FOR RESEARCH MR BILL GATES

Funding is needed for research on the HCV VIRUS to find medications with less severe side effects and a cure or vaccine. Millions of Americans have HCV and many more do not know they are infected with HCV.HCV affects the liver and can lead to chirrosis and liver cancer or death. Hcv is a leading cause of liver transplants. This is a bloodborne disease.Blood transfusion recipients that received blood years ago may have HCV. Veterans may have caught HCV when given shots being administered by the air guns.Healthcare workers are at high risk for being infected with HCV.Firemen ,policemen, and EMTS also are at risk. People that were given tattoos or body piercings with unclean needles are at risk.IV drug abusers are at risk.People that have shared razors or toothbrushes are at risk.More people died from Hepatitis C last year than from AIDS in the U.S. This is a Global disease. It destroys lives .I Found most of this information on the web.I have HCV and am searching for a cure.I was a healthcare worker.People with HCV shouldnt feel stigmatized.Public awareness is of the utmost imporance. SINCERELY, A HCV VICTIM. LUCINDA
