Expand the Farmers Market Nutrition Program
Ask Congress to expand the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program, a program that provides farm-fresh produce to low income and seniors while supporting local farms and food systems.
The Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program is an effective program that addresses health, nutrition, land use, children, seniors, and poverty all in one! 45 states participate, and tens of thousands of farmers and consumers benefit. But it's way too small -- only $20 million is appropriated. A significantly expanded program could serve millions while protecting family farms, improving our food system, and preserving farmland. This is exactly the kind of program we should be doing more of. It helps knit together our communities and serves people in need without developing dependency or bureaucracy. Sign the petition and spread the word!
