All across the country we have been experiencing the horrors of what happens when guns get into the wrong hands. And here in Oregon, it is no different.

State Sen. Ginny Burdick is working on a gun-control bill that would expand Oregon's background checks to include sales between private individuals. This would not infringe on any current gun owners' rights, but would add an extra layer of safety to keep guns out of the wrong hands.

Oregon's existing background checks ensure that guns are not getting into the hands of people who should not have them. Expanding this law would be a step closer to keeping our state's residents safe.
