Boycott ExxonMobil Until It Becomes a Responsible Corporate Citizen!

Target: CEO Lee Raymond
Sponsored by: Holly Snow
Despite ExxonMobilÂ’s record $10 billion in third quarter earnings, the company has refused to pursue the development of clean, renewable energy - preferring instead to rack up staggering profits in an era of surging gasoline prices for consumers. Profits at ExxonMobil have in fact become so excessive that Congress plans to hold hearings to look into the matter.

Worse still, ExxonMobil is trying to open the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling and sabotaging efforts to combat global warming by funding junk science, which perpetuates the myth that global warming isnÂ’t really occurring.

The companyÂ’s record of irresponsibility towards the environment is longstanding. Despite spending massive amounts of money on public relations spin, ExxonMobil continues to resist paying what it owes to fishermen and other coastal Alaskans whose lives were irrevocably damaged by the Exxon Valdez spill in Prince William Sound 16 years ago.

Tell ExxonMobil that it's time to start moving America forward, not backward!

Let CEO Lee Raymond know that you wonÂ’t purchase ExxonMobilÂ’s gas or products, invest in its stock, or take a job with the company until it changes its ways.

Dear Mr. Raymond:

Our country remains overly dependent on oil, which has serious consequences ranging from rising gasoline prices that pinch working Americans to global warming that threatens current and future generations. America’s addiction to oil represents a failed energy strategy, one that your company not only supports but has helped to perpetuate.

I am most disturbed by:

  • ExxonMobil's active support of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge;

  • ExxonMobil's efforts to block meaningful action to cut global warming pollution and its funding of junk science to hide the real facts about global warming;

  • ExxonMobil's conscious decision to forgo investment in clean energy solutions - despite your record profits at a time of rising gasoline prices;

  • ExxonMobil's failure to pay all of the punitive damages awarded to fishermen and others injured by the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.

ExxonMobil’s business strategy represents yesterday's thinking. I would rather spend my time and money moving forward, not backward. Therefore, I will not purchase ExxonMobil's gas or products, invest in ExxonMobil stock, or work for the company until the company’s business practices become more socially and environmentally responsible.

Sincerely,
[your name]

I can get cheaper gas from a better oil company. You make me sick leeching off of the people to earn profits you neither need nor deserve.

You consider yourselves above the law. You accept no responsibility for the damages you cause. You don't give a hoot about humanity. As a corporation ...you are disgusting.
