Call On DOT and EPA to Curb Carbon Pollution From Transportation!

The earth is seeing another year of record-hot temperatures. Nearly a third of all climate-wrecking carbon pollution in the U.S. comes from transportation — mostly from our cars.

In fact, transportation may even be overtaking power plants as the leading source of carbon emissions.

To tackle this threat, we need to build cleaner cars — and that is exactly what regulations underway from the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are helping to do. But this carbon-cutting initiative is now under review, and industry opponents are putting their full force behind derailing it and knocking us off course in our pursuit of cleaner air and cars that can get farther with less fuel.

If we want to keep moving forward with this critical effort to cut carbon, both agencies need to hear from us now.

Take action today: Urge DOT and EPA to curb dangerous carbon pollution from our vehicles by doubling down on clean cars and setting the stage for stronger standards yet as we look toward the future.
Dear Gina McCarthy and Anthony Foxx:

I urge you to help curb climate change and protect public health by reducing carbon pollution from vehicles. Transportation produces nearly a third of all carbon pollution in the U.S. -- and may be overtaking power plants as the leading source of carbon emissions in our county.

When the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration set clean vehicles standards in 2012, it was the single greatest step the country had taken at that point to tackle climate change. As the rule undergoes a midterm evaluation, it's critical that you work together to keep it strong through 2025 and set the foundation to strengthen it even further through 2030.

Please continue forward with this critical effort to put cleaner cars on the road and curb transportation-related carbon pollution -- future generations depend on it. Thank you.

Sincerely,
