Please reconsider participating in SeaWorld events such as the "Praise Wave Music Festival". You should be aware by now that SeaWorld lost have of its value within one year after the documentary "BLACKFISH" was released to a mass audience. SeaWorld claims that it is propaganda and lies yet it does not file a lawsuit against its producers and proofs it in a court of law.
SeaWorld is "fighting back" against those of us speaking up against it. It tries to discredit us by claiming that we are misguided "BLACKFISH" activists and PETA operatives. It claims that the documentary is propaganda and that PETA is an extremist animal rights organization and thus our message and concerns are not valid. It calls us a "small vocal group" but we are more than a small group. We are a worldwide movement and we come from different backgrounds. It is disappointing to learn that you claim to be Christians yet you ignore the suffering of intelligent beings in SeaWorld parks. How can you praise a loving God and ignore the suffering around you?
An Orca named Tilikum is regularly masturbated by trainers to get semen to impregnate female Orcas. An underage Orca named Kalia gave birth to a calf on December 2, 2014. SeaWorld claims that it breeds them to help the species yet it is not doing anything to help the declining wild Orca population in the Puget Sound, Washington, where only 77 Orcas remain after a female known as J-32 was found dead on December 5, 2014. The salmon population that sustains these Orcas is declining. SeaWorld is not doing anything to help them yet the media has reported that it plans to farm fish for human consumption. SeaWorld is about profits not conservation. The media reports that SeaWorld wants to move to China, Russia and the Middle East because the animal welfare laws are weak or non-existent in those areas. SeaWorld trainers are working with Russian counterparts to train two wild caught Orcas. SeaWorld is also closely related to the Taiji, Japan, dolphin and whale slaughters and captures. It belongs to the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums, WAZA, and its trainers belong to the IMATA association just as the Taiji Whale Museum and its trainers, the men and women responsible for the slaughters and captures in Taiji. Last September two young Pilot whales were captured and left in shallow sea pens without protection and food during two typhoons. The health of both deteriorated quickly and they were moved by the trainers to private properties away from the public eye seventeen days after being imprisoned. SeaWorld could help to expel this museum of horrors and its trainers from WAZA and IMATA yet it chooses to look the other way and ignore the plight of these poor creatures. The trainers in Taiji teach the same circus tricks used by the trainers in SeaWorld to these poor creatures forcing them to learn by feeding them only if they perform for their food.
Please do not participate in any SeaWorld events until the corporation does the best thing for the animals in its care and becomes a true leader in conservation. Humanity has destroyed 50% of species since the 1970s and its destructive path continues. Please do not participate in the 2015 scheduled Praise Wave Music Festival. Become involved in the conservation movement. Speak up for animals. What would Jesus do?
