Portland commuters, aren't you tired of the daily traffic congestion on all of our freeways yet? It's only going to get worst if we do not do something about it! Portland currently has 500 K people residing within Multnomah County and that number is expected to grow twice the amount in the next two years. Currently there are no plans for the city to expand our freeways systems. Additionally there are no plans for ODOT to implement car pool lanes either which statistically has always been the inexpensive method used by most cities to cut down on the amount of cars on the road. Last have you noticed at all where our traffic congestion is coming from? If your are a regular commuter of I-84, I-5 and I-205 you will see it all stemming in and out of the State of Washington. Then if you look even closer at all the license plates on the freeways you will see that every 3rd car has Washington plates! My solution to all of this is for us to build toll ways on both of our entrances/exits of I-5 and I-205 to and from Washington. So that anyone coming into Oregon from Washington will have to pay and anyone leaving Oregon to go to Washington would have to pay. We all know in the end who that will be, it will be all of those cheap skates that moved to Washington to avoid paying Multnomah County Property taxes and who still work in Oregon. It will also be the same Washingtonian plus the rest who come to avoid their own sales tax. I say it's time to make them pay to use our roads. Did you know that Oregon has not implemented any way to charge them for using our roads so they just go ahead and charge us by increasing our taxes every year? I say no more! Shout out Oregon by saying to Washington, we are not the fools you think we are anymore! You will now need to pay to play and to work here! The toll systems will cut our traffic in at least a 1/3 as well 100% of the proceeds will help us to build larger freeways with new carpool lanes, help repair some of our current roads, help pay for all the litter, cut down on emissions and last but not least give some of our daily commuters like myself a smoother less hectic ride into and out of work. What do you say Oregon? Instead of building more bycycle lanes and bycycle bridges, let's invest our money into something that will truly give us a return on our money as well as a little more peace of mind.
