Tell the Governor & Attorney General to Keep the North Adams Regional Hospital Open!

A few days ago, the North Adams Regional Hospital abruptly announced that it was closing its doors leaving thousands of patients without access to critical emergency hospital services.

The citizens who live in and around North Adams will be devastated and placed at serious medical risk by this 'middle of the night' action. The closest emergency room is over an hour drive away. Not to mention that the jobs lost will hurt the area's already struggling economy. This is unacceptable and we must fight to overturn this callous action.

Could your hospital be next?

We now have a hospital system of "haves and have nots" that has resulted in the loss of essential services for some communities, particularly those servicing the poor and most vulnerable. That is why we need the Hospital Profit Transparency and Fairness Act (HPTFA), which would require hospitals to be transparent about their financial holdings and to limit and claw back excessive profits from the larger more profitable hospitals to ensure taxpayer dollars are dedicated exclusively to safe patient care and necessary services for all communities in the Commonwealth.

Don't forget our tax dollars pay to keep the doors open in all hospitals - large and small. At the very least we should know if they are about to close.

Sign this petition to support the HPTFA and tell Governor Patrick and Attorney General Coakley to keep North Adams Regional Hospital Open!
