All California Moms Deserve Prenatal Care

According to a recent report by the California Department of Public Health, the rate of pregnancy-related deaths is rising at an alarming rate.

Statistics show that minority and low-income women are at the greatest risk. African-American women are 4 times more likely to die because of pregnancy-related problems and over half of the of the women who died last year were Medi-Cal recipients.

New mothers desperately need access to medical care such as prenatal vitamins, regular check-ups, delivery options and health advice. California must step up and protect mothers by increasing prenatal care for all women, regardless of ethnicity or financial status.

Tell California's Governor Jerry Brown to stand up for California's mothers and help them get the medical access they need.
The maternal mortality statistics released by the California Department of Public Health are alarming, and something must be done.

Deaths related to pregnancy in California have risen from 8 deaths out of every 100,000 births to 14, in less than ten years. The report also showed that the majority of these deaths are women who recieve Medi-Cal.

California's state health care system is obviously not doing enough to help new mothers, and drastic changes need to be made.

I urge you to stand up for California's new mothers and help them get the medical assistance they need.
