NY Beagle Freedom Bill signed late & did not become law in 2014. Sign for 2015 & get this law signed

Victory Delayed in New York. Please sign this petition not just for NY, but all states.  For an article about what happens to beagles born into experimentation labs click on the following - Ginger - A beagle puppy born, tortured & murdered inside UF.  This is a horrible tale of a 1 day old puppy being experimented on at the University of Florida, but this is exactly what is happening in NY, other states, and around the world.  Beagles are being bred to die, and this is unacceptable.  Please see my other petition - Shut down multi-national vivisection breeder of beagles & other animals-US Co. Marshall BioResources.

Below is an article Posted by Kevin Chase on June 23, 2014 It is with a heavy heart that we must report the Beagle Freedom Bill will not become law in New York for 2014.

This was not for the lack of effort, passion, reason, or determination of countless supporters and the heroics of our legislative allies, especially Senator Phil Boyle and Assembly Member Alec Brook-Krasny.

Truth be told, we came close – so very close. This bill, for all its merit, reasonableness, and importance was introduced late in session. Beagle Freedom Project knew this could be an issue, but when the opportunity presented itself to work with incredible New York state legislators and attempt to get this passed in 2014 instead of next year’s session – of course we had to go for it!

Although we are disappointed (and heartbroken for the animals it would have helped free) we do not regret trying. In the process of lobbying for this bill we have already made some significant achievements in the just one month. In the Assembly the bill was introduced by 8 members and had 8 co-sponsors! In the Senate the bill passed the Higher Education Committee, Rules and Regulations, and passed the full Senate floor vote with bi-partisan unanimous support!

Additionally, as relayed to us by Senator Boyle, a couple of the schools with laboratory dogs and cats are going to be starting voluntary public adoption programs now because of this legislation.

Beagle Freedom Project is going to take this setback as an opportunity. In the next few months we will work closely with the bill’s authors to address every last question of the Assembly Members that have them. We are going to build a coalition of rescue and shelter organizations to support its passage.

We are going to use the bill as a vehicle to provoke more conversations about animal-testing and the ways we can all help these survivors! We are going to pass the Beagle Freedom Bill into law in New York and many other states across the country… that is our promise.

Thank you to everyone that made a call, sent an email, tweeted, or paid a visit to their representative. You literally made your voice heard and those laboratory dogs and cats are going to be better off for it.
