Teams from DEFRA (formerly MAFF) are targeting areas and obliging farmers and small holders to complete forms so that they can tell if there are Badger sets on their land. Enabling them to gas the Badgers.
It has never been proven that Badgers spread TB to cattle. The most likely culprit is the Hedgehog, as they will drink milk from an overfull udder if the cow is laying down at rest.
Badgers do not do this. They travel around fields, following hedgerows, within their territory, and keep away from cattle as much as possible.
Badgers present no danger to the farming community and should be allowed to exist!

They are 'easy' targets and their removal often does not solve the problem at all. Further, disruption of populations of native animals, especially a mesocarnivore such as a badger, will lead to numerous other environmental ramificiations. Instead, parliament should focus on funding research to determine the real culprit(s) causing the problem, and then focus on mitigation efforts that are ethical to all animals involved. | |

Stop Badger Gassing in the UK
We beg you to not send DEFRA (formerly MAFF) teams to target areas in the rural community for Badger gassing. Such an action is both inhumane and unnecessary.
It has never been proved that Badgers spread TB to cattle. The most likely culprit is the Hedgehog, as they will drink milk from an overfull udder if the cow is laying down at rest. Badgers do not do this. They travel around fields, following hedgerows, within their territory, and keep away from cattle as much as possible.
Badgers present no danger to farm animals, or the farming community. There is no need for us to senselessly kill these creatures. Respect life, respect nature. Do not gas our Badger populations!
Please help save our Badgers by completing this Petition.
Thank you.
