President Obama's Ocean Policy Task Force has issued science-based recommendations for a national policy to govern, protect, maintain and restore ocean habitat. This unprecedented report is the first time we've had a common vision for governing the 4.4 million square miles of America's marine waters.
If adopted, implemented and funded, the recommendations would usher in a new era of ocean management -- one based on environmental stewardship. Just imagine the impact we could have if, rather than the hodgepodge of agencies and laws that currently govern oceans, coasts and the Great Lakes, we work together to restore the health of these critical ecosystems!
Urgent: the comment period ends on October 17. Tell the White House Council on Environmental Quality that you support a comprehensive national policy to protect, maintain and restore our oceans and coasts.

Dear Chairwoman Sutley,
Thank you for coordinating the release of the new National Ocean Policy. Our country needs a comprehensive and coordinated national plan that will protect, maintain, and recover America's oceans. We rely on healthy oceans for food, medicine, oxygen, jobs, leisure and inspiration. At this point in our nation's history, we need a strong national stewardship statement for our waters that will ensure current and future Americans have resilient, bountiful oceans.
The National Ocean Policy is well-crafted, and I am particularly glad to see that it insists on ecosystem based management and marine spatial planning to achieve real results in the water.
Thank you again, and keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
Yamary Porro

Stop making plastic bottles, styrafoam plates, plastic straws and forks spoons and knives. When I was a kid we didn't have plastic bottles of water. or styrafoam trays for our fruits or veggies from the grocery store we had little paper bags to put the food in. Can we go back to that. Just stop with all the plastic bottles that would be a great begining..

At present our ocieans are stressed out from overfishing and pollution coming from our industries and farms. We need a coordinated approach to protecting our salt water vital resources. Otherwise the "endless fish populations" of our oceans will run out very soon.
