1,987 12:11 am PDT, Mar 20 Gail Walldorf Chattanooga Tennessee United States I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams why we have let this astrocity go on for so long; it is so simple to rememdy. It is so cruel to allow these poor animals to keep having more unwanted puppies and kitties. We have got to take action. The President is a caring man and I know will find it in his heart to help this become a reality. Please take action immediately for all God's little creatures who cannot speak out for themselves and depend on us to do it for them.
1,986 1:24 pm PDT, Mar 15 Brandy Fullerton east ridge Tennessee United States To promote spay and neuter all the way from the white house would make a statement even more so to the whole country. A life is a life. PERIOD- regardless of species. The fact that MILLIONS of INNOCENT animals die each year because no human wants them is simply unacceptable. Spaying and Neutering is THE ONLY humane way of dealing with an "overpopulation" problem. PLEASE promote spaying and neutering and adopting from local shelters. This would be a huge step an incredibly awesome direction for all of mankind. Thank you so much!

1,964 4:43 pm PST, Feb 11 Jessie Beckett Hendersonville Tennessee United States I don't think non-dog/cat lovers realize just how important dogs/cats (pets in general) are to society. It seems like there are more and more people doing first time adoptions these days and getting their first pet. My husband and I do not have children and rely on our dogs to fill that spot. We have five dogs and want more. We never thought we would have five dogs but it breaks our hearts to realize we can't save them all. It doesn't take someone with a lot of money to be a great pet owner, but it can cost a lot of money just to take care of a healthy one. PLEASE create more spay and neuter programs that are affordable to everyone! Thank you!

1,956 8:12 pm PST, Feb 10 Margaret D. Stogner Madison Tennessee United States Spaying and neutering of pets is vital to ending the over population of dogs and cats. These unwanted animals are dumped with not way to care for themselves. Tens of thousands are destroyed yearly. This has to stop. We are the greatest country in the world and we must set an example to the rest of the countries who are killing as many animals as we are. Let us be the first to make a positive step toward solving the huge problem.
1,955 7:19 pm PST, Feb 10 jane kiker jefferson city Tennessee United States
1,954 6:41 pm PST, Feb 10 SONJA MAXWELL Gallatin Tennessee United States Please pass a law requiring Spay and Neuter laws in all states. Do you really know how many animals are put to death because of poor education on the part of human being. Please stop the killing.
1,953 6:37 pm PST, Feb 10 Ann Cox Lebanon Tennessee United States We will never affect a difference unless there is legislation to enforce spay and neuter policies, ending unwanted litters and saving THOUSANDS of lives per year
1,952 5:19 pm PST, Feb 10 Emilie M. Bottiggi Brentwood Tennessee United States
1,951 5:01 pm PST, Feb 10 Prisi Selfridge Gallatin Tennessee United States Sadly, the neccessary euthanasia of hundreds of thousands of innocent, unwanted companion animals is a nationwide epidemic that is 100% fixable. Please be one to help eliminate this needless suffering.

Spay and Neuter: Ask the President for an action!

Spaying and neutering are important steps toward ending animal homelessness. In Defense of Animals
(IDA) estimates that 50% of all licensed companion animals are neither
spayed or neutered. These un-sterilized animals reproduce at an awesome
pace. In six years, one female cat has the capability of giving rise to
420,000 young, and one female dog can produce up to 67,000 puppies.

If you think that just having one or two litters won't hurt anybody,
this fact should change your mind: according to the Humane Society of
the United States, 10,000 babies are born in the U.S. on any given day.
On that same day, however, 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. Match
those two statistics up, and you'll see that there will never be enough
homes for all the animals born in this country unless we all take
responsibility for spaying and neutering our pets. Change begins with
YOU! Spay or neuter your pet! (HSUS)

If you're asking, WHY SPAY OR NEUTER, please read this information
from the ASPCA. http://www.aspca.org/site/DocServer/Why_SpayNeuter-English.pdf?docID=188

Implementing spay and neuter ordinances are
essential to creating long-term, life-saving improvements for companion
animals.
