Get Insecticide-Treated Mosquito Nets Into the Hands of Families That Need Them!

A child dies of malaria every 30 seconds. Ninety percent of malaria deaths occur in Africa, where malaria accounts for about one in five of all childhood deaths. And malaria infection during pregnancy is associated with severe anaemia and other illnesses that contribute to low birth weight among newborn infants - one of the leading risk factors for infant mortality.

Luckily, there is a simple and elegant solution. Sleeping under insecticide-treated nets can dramatically reduce overall child mortality. We simply need to make sure the nets make it into the hands of the families that need them!

Malaria has serious health and economic impacts in Africa -- holding back communities and perpetuating the vicious cycle of poverty.

April 25 is World Malaria Day 2009. Speak up now and show your support for programs that deliver insecticide-treated mosquito nets to children threatened by this preventable killer!
