Support Safe Chemicals in our Homes and Communities

While the rates of diseases like asthma, diabetes, childhood cancers, infertility, and learning and behavioral disorders keep going up, the federal system that should protect us from health-harming chemicals hasn’t changed in 35 years.

But there’s a movement growing to protect our families from unsafe chemicals, and it’s picking up momentum in Congress. The Safe Chemicals Act of 2013 (S696), which would require chemical manufacturers to prove that chemicals are safe BEFORE they go on the market, is circulating the US Senate.

Tell North Carolina’s Senators Kay Hagan and Richard Burr to co-sponsor this important bill.

We're long overdue for modernizing our outdated chemical policies. The old-fashioned system leaves families exposed to countless toxic chemicals every day and puts us at risk for cancer, learning disabilities, infertility, and more. This is unacceptable.

Send a message to North Carolina’s Senators and urge them to support a common sense update to chemical safety rules.
Dear Senator,

Please support and co-sponsor the Safe Chemical Act (S696), which would require that chemicals are proven safe for our children and families before they go on the market. This is common sense legislation that can prevent needless exposure to toxic chemicals in everyday products.

The Safe Chemicals Act would modernize our outdated chemical policies and will protect those most at risk, such as pregnant women and young children, from the harmful effects of unsafe chemicals. I urge you to co-sponsor and support S696.

Sincerely,
