Urge Obama to Stand Strong for Polar Bears and Arctic Wildlife

In a historic move, President Obama has proposed vital protections for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge — and the polar bears and other wildlife who call it home.

The refuge is where members of the famous Porcupine Caribou Herd birth their calves. Arctic fox, musk oxen, gray wolves and more than 200 migratory bird species can all be found there.

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is also the most important onshore denning habitat for America’s threatened polar bears.

The President faces a tough fight ahead to safeguard the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from Big Oil’s dirty drilling schemes. Big Oil’s allies in Congress are still clamoring to turn this wondrous place into an industrial oil field, threatening not only the area’s wildlife, but also way of life of Native communities.

Please sign the petition now and ask the president to stand strong for polar bears and other wildlife by protecting one of America’s most special and irreplaceable natural treasures.

Dear President Obama,

Thank you for protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, one of America’s greatest natural treasures.

Your decision will not just help protect the imperiled polar bears and caribou, Arctic fox, and other wildlife that make their home in the refuge. It will also help preserve Native cultures and send an important message about the importance of protecting the natural world for future generations.
