Stop the GOP from Gutting Health Care Access

On June 16, 2015, House Republicans released a federal budget plan that would defund the Affordable Care Act, eliminating health coverage for millions of Americans and doing away with cost controls that have already begun to reduce the growth in health spending.

As of October 2014, roughly 16.4 million uninsured Americans have gained health coverage through the Affordable Care Act. Fewer Americans reported medical debt troubles or problems accessing needed health services. And an estimated 50,000 lives have been saved.

The GOP has attempted to do away with the Affordable Care Act dozens of times since its passage in 2010. But now that the Republicans have won majorities in the House and Senate, they could succeed.

Don’t let the Republican party cut off our noses to save its face in next year's elections. Urge your lawmakers to oppose efforts to defund the Affordable Care Act.

Dear Decision Maker,

I strongly urge you to oppose any effort aimed at repealing, defunding, or otherwise reducing the effectiveness of the Affordable Care Act.

In just the short time in which it has been fully in effect, the Affordable Care Act has extended health coverage to roughly 16.4 million Americans. Growth in healthcare spending has slowed, and fewer Americans report problems with medical debt or in affording the health services they need.

[Your comments]

The Affordable Care Act is working. I strongly urge you to prioritize the interests of the American people -- not petty partisan politics and a return to the failed health policies of the past.

Sincerely,

[Your name]

Great news! As you may have heard, today the US Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act. This is a major win, but the Republican-controlled Congress could still eliminate subsidies that help millions of people afford health care. We have to stop them! Please take a moment to
