The Government by the People Act would make everyday Americans just as powerful as big donors, with a six-to-one match for small contributions, and incentives for candidates to focus on raising money from small donors.
Candidates without networks of big-money donors would be able to run for office and win with their community's support. Constituents would know that their elected officials are accountable only to them — not special interests and wealthy donors.

With all the news about President Trump's corruption, profiting off the presidency and giving jobs to big donors, it's more important than ever that we have a government that is accountable to all of us. Right now, we need to restore faith in the integrity of our democracy.
That's why I'm asking you to co-sponsor and work for the passage of the Government By the People Act (H.R. 20). The Government by the People Act reduces the influence of wealthy special interests by amplifying the voices of all Americans. With small donations matched 6-to-1 by limited public funds, this bill would allow candidates to focus their attention on their constituents, rather than spending their time raising money from lobbyists and special interests.
