JAMES ISLANDERS have the basic property RIGHTS to keep CHICKENS and ROOSTERS!

Governmental Employees think they have the ability to restrict your rights as a property owner to keep chickens. Where will it stop! Perhaps you will be required to keep your boat in the backyard, or you won't be allowed to change the oil in your car in your own driveway, or maybe no one can operate a noisy mower and instead will be required to use a push mower. Similar regulations exist in other townships.

Whether or not you own chickens for pleasure or food security, you must take a stand for the right to determine what you can or ca not do WITH YOUR OWN PROPERTY.
Noise ordinances, building codes and animal welfare laws already exist for those few instances where a nuisance might present itself. Do we need more laws?
Please take a stand on this important issue!

James Islanders reserve the right to keep chickens (including roosters) on our own property.

Keeping chickens allows us to pursue our natural rights of providing for our families and in pursuing happiness.

Roosters provide a necessary role in chicken flock welfare.

We recognize existing regulations regarding noise, building codes, animal welfare, and health and food safety.  We see no reason to add redundancy to the existing legal code.
