Consider Immediate Implementation of Animal Cruelty Registry In Indiana

In a quest to get an animal abuse registry implemented on a national level, I continue to work state-by-state in an effort to protect animals from abuse and cruelty.  There would be so many benefits of such a database that would consist of all pertinent and personal information about anyone that has been convicted of animal abuse and neglect.  I feel we have all waited way too long to do something that would be in the best interest of those that cannot speak out or defend themselves. Indian is one of those states that currently does not have an animal cruelty registry database as a means of defense against animal abuse and neglect.

This state does have some issues with animal abuse and cruelty. http://bloomington.in.gov/animalshelter http://indyhumane.org/news/prevention_of_animal_cruelty_month are a couple of articles that shows how Indiana is concerned and working to save animals throughout the state.  Several states have made attempts in creating an animal cruelty registry and the hope is that Indiana would also follow suit in protecting animals.

The law that would require animal abusers to register on this database is crucial, not only for the animals but the community statewide. It has been documented that anyone who has victimized or harmed an animal is highly capable of harming humans and others. Animals are defenseless creatures without a voice and need our help in protecting them, something that would be beneficial in the implementation of an animal cruelty registry.  The database should require that anyone guilty of animal abuse, cruelty or neglect be listed for a lifetime, keeping it updated with personal information over the years.  Anyone on the list would then be banned from any future ownership of a pet as well as never being allowed to even care for or working with animals for a lifetime.  This is the only way we will ever be able to stop the abuse of those who cannot speak or protect themselves.

Indian has made some attempts to present the idea of such a database before the General Assembly and I am hoping that we can encourage state legislators to implement with full strict enforcement, an animal cruelty registry. Indiana State Legislators – I commend you for the efforts made in trying to protect animals statewide from abuse, cruelty and neglect.  The goal is to encourage the implementation of an animal cruelty registry database that is fully and strictly enforced. Such a database should require that anyone guilty of animal abuse, cruelty or neglect be listed for a lifetime, keeping it updated with personal information over the years.  Anyone on the list would then be banned from any future ownership of a pet as well as never being allowed to even care for or working with animals for a lifetime.  This is the only way we will ever be able to stop the abuse of those who cannot speak or protect themselves.
