WE REQUEST A FULL TIME CAIRNS BASED PAIN SPECIALIST AND FULL TIME CAIRNS BASED PAIN CLINIC RUN BY LOCAL STAFF

Currently patients with Chronic Pain have to travel to Townsville or further south for treatment, most patients are not well enough or not in a financial position to travel, nor are these patients comfortable to be away from their families or support network for long periods of time.

There is NO specialised equipment required to set up a full time cairns based pain clinic, just a full time specialist anesthetist and a few staff to run the clinic. There are thousands of patients in the Cairns and regional area that would benefit and it would save the Health Department in the long run from the current practice of having to reimburse patients for their travel expenses to Townsville and further afield for treatment.
