Help Stop Preventable Child Gun Deaths

The easiest way to prevent unintentional child gun deaths is to make sure that guns are stored locked and unloaded. About a third of children in the U.S. live in homes with guns, and because many of those guns aren't stored safely and securely, American kids are 16 times more likely to be unintentionally shot and killed than kids in other developed countries.

We can eliminate unintentional child gun deaths, but in order to do that, we MUST commit to promoting safe storage and holding irresponsible gun owners accountable. We also have to make sure that doctors aren't barred from talking to parents about safe firearm storage, just as they would discuss the risks associated with swimming pools, second-hand smoke, and riding without car seats or seat belts.

Tell your state lawmakers to support laws that encourage safe gun storage and will save innocent lives.
To whom it may concern:

More than two-thirds of unintentional child gun deaths could be avoided if gun owners had stored their guns responsibly and taken measure to prevent children from accessing them.

You can stop accidental child gun deaths and save innocent lives. Making sure that guns are stored safely and securely is the single most effective way to prevent unintentional child gun deaths. Please adopt stronger laws that would prevent children from accessing unsecured guns by holding negligent gun owners responsible if injury results, and oppose legislation that would bar doctors from discussing and encouraging responsible gun ownership with patients.
