Help Keep Families Together for the Holidays

Sponsored by: American Humane Association

The idea of "rescuing the family for the child" originated with a former leader of American Humane Association, Vincent De Francis. He felt that removing children from the home -- while appropriate in some cases -- is rarely the best solution.

And he was right. While many foster families succeed, research has shown that children in the child protection system who stay with their families are more likely to graduate from high school, attend college, gain employment and stay off the streets.

In collaborating with child protection agencies across the country, American Humane helps families find solutions that keep kids safe and keep families together. Sometimes the parent just needs to find a better paying job, or a relative is willing to move in and help care for the child temporarily. And often, families are not even aware that their communities offer services to low-income or struggling families.

Sign the pledge today to do what you can to help families stay together this holiday season.

I just have to say that CAS isn't always right, they take a child from a good home ,,and give no reason for it ,,I think it is wrong and something needs to be done about it,, children should be with there biological parent.

Families do need to stay together. When a family member is having problems, step in and help them keep their children. I did, it wasn't easy, but it was worth it.
