Please sign this petition to tell your State and County Representatives that you are concerned about the current HHSC Bills (HB1112 and HB1075) and their affect upon our community. Before any changes are made, before LCH is leased to any other entity, HHSC needs to meet with the Lanai community and its health care providers to identify a mutually acceptable plan.
The LCH facility may be State-operated, but it was built by the dollars contributed by pineapple field laborers, in some cases, with payroll deductions of 50 cents a week. We must never forget their generosity and dedication in building this facility – and that it is indeed a “COMMUNITY” hospital.

As a patientof Lanai Community Health Center (LCHC) located in Lanai City, HI, I am writing to urge you to support of my health center and my community. Please do everything in your power to ensure that the HHSC Maui Region changes do not negatively affect our health center or the community.
Before any changes are made, before Lanai Community Hospital is leased to any other entity
- HHSC needs to meet with the Lanai community and its health care providers to identify a mutually acceptable plan. - HHSC needs to grant the Health Center providers (MDs and APRNs) admitting privileges to the Lanai Community Hospital, to be allowed to practice medicine and provide continuity of care consistent with their license scope, State law – and good quality care.
- HHSC needs to communicate with the Health Center 24/7 provider when our patients present at ER, to ensure the best quality of care is provided, and unnecessary treatment is avoided.
- HHSC needs to ensure that choice of health care provider remains within our community and that the community has a voice in how the Hospital functions within our community and to where our community members are transferred if the need to be sent off island - now and in the future.
The Lanai Community Health Center provides high quality, comprehensive, culturally sensitive, holistic care for me [and my family]. And the Community Hospital is an integral part of our community – not an afterthought extension of the HHSC Maui Region. I am counting on you to do everything in your power to prevent HHSC changes without our input and continued voice in the evolution of our health care facilities and services.
