It is time that Alaskans - who feel climate change impacts more than anyone else in this country - step up and do our part to address climate change. Across our state this year, winter temperatures are 10 degrees above normal. Barely enough snow for the Iditarod. Storms are battering our coastlines, threatening villages and traditional ways of life.
As residents of Alaska, we’ll soon have a unique chance to speak up. The Obama administration is expected to release an offshore leasing plan for Alaska and the entire country, which could possibly lead to more drilling in the Arctic Ocean. That's bad for climate change and bad for Alaskans who would feel the impact of a spill.
