Imagine Chicago Powered by Renewable Energy!

Just last week, Chicago's last remaining coal plants went offline. Chicago residents can breathe a lot easier thanks to local community groups, Sierra Club activists like you, and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. But even with this victory, fossil fuels and nuclear still dominate the mix of energy that powers Chicago.

The good news -- in November we can take the next step to ensure that Chicago's energy comes from clean, renewable energy!

Chicago voters have the opportunity to pass a referendum that will authorize the city to pool our electricity demands and negotiate a better energy package. Like other Illinois cities, Chicago could ask suppliers to provide them with clean energy.

Sign our petition -- tell Mayor Emanuel you support powering Chicago with affordable clean energy!
Subject: Make Chicago Run on Renewable Energy

Dear Mayor Rahm Emanuel,

We call on you to make the most of November's vote to negotiate a better energy package for the city. We need an energy plan that creates new, local jobs through energy savings and investment in renewable energy.

On November 6, voters in the city of Chicago will decide whether to adopt community energy choice. This presents a tremendous opportunity to make Chicago a world leader in renewable energy, to create new jobs in Chicago and across the state, and to increase energy savings. But, to realize these benefits, Chicago needs a good plan.

Mr. Mayor, our vote will give you a momentous opportunity. Let's make the most of it. Create new, local jobs with a plan that saves energy and makes Chicago run on renewable energy.
