Anti-Semitism and Violence Against Jews Must Not Stand

Following the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teens at the hands of Hamas and unrelenting rocket assaults on Israel, we are in the midst of a rapid resurgence of anti-Semitism in a number of European countries that has escalated to levels not seen since World War II.

For too long, Europe's leaders haven't paid sufficient attention to the world's oldest and most pernicious form of racism: anti-Semitism. Today, many of Europe's Jews live in fear of violence and intimidation.

The safety of many European Jews is in jeopardy. Turning the tide on anti-Semitism is critical when many Jews are reluctantly making the difficult and painful decision to leave their home countries in search of safety because of the violence they're experiencing -- including the murder of four at the Brussels Jewish Museum and protests in Paris and Berlin that included chants such as "death to the Jews" and "gas the Jews."

History teaches us that complacency leads to disaster. We must act now! That's why the World Jewish Congress has been working with European leaders to speak out and stand in solidarity with the Jewish people.

Join us in urging European leaders to protect and defend Jews from the growing threats of anti-Semitism.
European leaders must take a strong stand against the resurgence of anti-Semitic violence, laws, rhetoric and propaganda that fuel the fires of hate.

Anti-Semitism, the world's oldest and most pernicious form of racism, continues to be manifested through violence and intimidation directed at Jews, as well as attacks against Jewish religious freedom, traditions, synagogues and other religious sites.

In keeping with the European Union's motto, "United in Diversity," we urge those in power to use their positions to ensure that Europe's Jews are protected and free from the anti-Semitic violence currently flourishing in a number of European countries.
