Medal of Honor for Heroes of Flight 93

The men and women of Flight 93 heroically saved hundreds, if not thousands of lives by resisting the terrorists who had taken control of their aircraft. These men and women deserve the Medal of Honor.

The President, in the name of Congress, has awarded more than 3,400 Medals of Honor to our nation's bravest Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen since the decoration's creation in 1861. Typically reserved for servicemen who have shown dedication and bravery in battle, the medal of honor would be a fitting testamonial to the men and women of Flight 93 who bravely committed their lives to the protection of their fellow Americans.

Sign this petition and urge President Bush to honor these brave men and women as they should be.

Attention President Bush:

Whereas passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93, in the richest traditions of American bravery, courage and commitment to the ideals of liberty, did resist and fight foreign terrorists who had taken control of their aircraft, and,

Whereas the resistance of these individuals either contributed to, or caused, the crash of this aircraft before it could reach the intended target of these suicidal terrorists and enemies of the United States of America, and,

Whereas by contributing to or causing the crash of their own aircraft these individuals undoubtedly contributed to the saving of hundreds, if not thousands, of more innocent lives during the attack on America on September 11, 2001.

Therefore, let it be petitioned to the United States Congress and the President of the United States and resolved that:

  • The medal of honor be awarded postumously to these great men and women of Flight 93.
  • The medal be delivered to the families of the men and women who lost their lives that tragic September day of 2001.
  • The medal will be presented at a National ceremony to honor these men and women who have fallen bravely in the protection of the citizens of the United States of America.
  • And that a National Monument and Memorial be erected at the crash site near Shanksville, PA, where it will stand as a witness for all times, that Liberty and Justice will prevail with the courageous spirit of the American people.
