England has a long history of animal welfare, and we have fought long and hard for the protection of our animals that can not speak out for them selves. In the last 20 years or so all this has been undone on the grounds of religious freedom. In the last 20 years humane killing of animals has been replaced in England with the unstunned cruel slaughter of animals for relgious reasons. Today halal slaughtered meat is served up in schools, prisons, supermarkets and hospitals even though Islam is not the religion of this country and offends every other non muslim citizen of the united kingdom.
Denmark has recentently introduced a law banning halal and kosher slaughter in there country on the grounds that animal rights should take precedence over religious freedom. I state that being tolerant and welcoming to other religions into this country should not be done on the grounds of dropping our morales or the welfare of our animals. Animals suffer as much as humans, yet they can not speak out there fore it is up to the good British people to do so on there behalf. The quote that follows is from the book "Health Building" by Dr Randolph Stone and think is extremely relevant.
"Besides such physical reactions as the toxins produced in our body when we eat the flesh of slaughtered animals, fish and fowl, there is also the factor of karma - that we inevitably reap what we have sown. We are resposiable for all our actions, past and present, and experience the consequences in our physical, mental and emotional state of health. Hence, we are well advised to eat for health, by sowing the seeds for life, rather than sowing the seeds of future suffering through heedlessly abusing life each day."
There fore we demand that it become illigal in this country to slaughter animals in this country in an unstunned way and that animal rights should always take precedence over religious freedom. That all meat served up in schools, supermarkets, hospitals, prisons etc is from humanely stunned non religious slaughter. We do not deny the right of muslims or jewish to eat halal, kosher (although when in prison there rights are lost) and thus all halal or kosher meat should be imported from a country of there religion where it can be slaughtered to there requirements and thus have designated shops in this country, for selling such meat that is slaughtered inhumanely. However all public services should not be affiliated with this as it will become illigal to do so.
