Our Children have a right to attend a School in their Local Community

I am petitioning for Doncaster Council to open a second Reception Class in one of the four Primary Schools in the Auckley/ Branton/ Blaxton/ Finningley Pyramid.

Doncaster Council have granted planning for a number of new housing estates to be built in the villages within our School Catchment Area Pyramid and have failed to invest in the school infrastructure to support the number of children attending school.

My Husband and I have lived within these villages for the last 30 years and 15 years respectively and yet we have failed to secure a Reception place for our Son for September 2015 as all four schools within our pyramid are over subscribed. We have been offered a place at a school over 5 miles away which would mean we have to drive past four good schools in our local community to a school where we have no links or community ties.

Our son has a right to attend a school in his local community, a community where we have built relationships, attended playgroups, pre-school and nursery. A community where my Husband went to school and where we have lived together as a family for the last 11 years.

Doncaster Council need to take action and invest in one of the four schools to enable it to open a second Reception Class to support the number of children that live within this community.
