Stop Facebook Scammers Before They Strike!

These days everyone is on Facebook—and why not? It's a great way to keep up with friends and relatives.

But unfortunately scammers have realized that our own Facebook friends can provide the perfect cover to get access to information for identity theft or other fraudulent activity.

For instance, you might receive a notification one day from a "friend" who seems to have had to make a new Facebook account. A little odd, perhaps, but if you don't look closely you might be tempted to accept this person's request and go on your way, not realizing that you've just let in a scammer hiding behind a fake profile.

With so many of our friends and loved ones on Facebook, it's more important than ever that we know how to keep our information safe. For example, by following these five precautions:
  1. Always double check friend requests
  2. Don't blindly trust friends' recommendations
  3. Watch for poor grammar
  4. Alert your friends if it looks like they've been hacked
  5. Report fake accounts to Facebook

Help protect yourself and your friends today: Pledge to take these vital steps, and to learn more about the ways con artists are taking advantage of our social media accounts!
