The Honorable C. Wesley Lane II: We are asking for vigorous prosecution and mandatory counseling if Hicks is convicted of Brandon Hicks for the
beating, stabbing and death of a goose.
The Honorable C. Wesley Lane II: 13-year-old boy, Brandon Hicks, was arrested on Tuesday, Apr. 12, 2005, when Okla. City police found him (and two younger accomplaces) swinging a goose by its neck and smashing it into a chain link fence, police said. Brandon Hicks of Oklahoma City was booked into a juvenile detention
center on an animal cruelty complaint. A felony animal cruelty charge
carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
Given the undeniable connection between cruelty to
animals and violence toward humans, it is imperative that animal abuse
be taken seriously. This behavior can not be dismissed as "boys will be boys" behavior, and
simply must be taken seriously. If these children have any hope of
growing up to be compassionate, productive members of society, it is
imperative that they receive intensive counseling if they are convicted.
We are asking for vigorous prosecution and mandatory counseling if Hicks is convicted of Brandon Hicks for the beating, stabbing and death of the goose.
