Save Darfur - Stop the Genocide Now!

Target: President George Bush
Sponsored by: Save Darfur Coalition
On an average day in Darfur, tens of thousands of innocent civilians face the threat of torture, starvation, rape, and uprooting from their homes, families, and livelihoods.

Already hundreds of thousands have died in an ongoing conflict they cannot control.

But we can help stop the killing and the hell the living victims must endure. And we must, because we cannot stand by while a genocide occurs.

When President Bush came into office he wrote of the devastating 1994 genocide in Rwanda: "Not on my watch."

But right now in Darfur millions have been uprooted and hundreds of thousands killed systematically by an armed militia – the very type of genocide President Bush pledged to stop.

We must hold him to his promise.

We need your voice today to urge President Bush to take action now, before it is too late.

Dear President Bush,

During your first year in the White House, you wrote in the margins of a report on the Rwandan genocide, "Not on my watch."

I urge you to live up to those words by using the power of your office to support a stronger multinational force to protect the civilians of Darfur, Sudan.

Dear President Bush, I am a student in grade 12 this year and the proud vice-president of my schools first STAND group. I was drawn to the current genocide in Darfur when it was first introduced to my school and I have made successful progess in efforts of both fundraising and awarness. It is my dying hope that our efforts have made even the smallest difference to Darfurians. It is with deep regret that I admit our efforts seem to be going to waste, as we struggle to put in time and effort to stop a genocide we can only help so much. As President of a strong country with great power, you have an obligation to help those in need. Darfur needs our help, we must end the genocide now and stop the horrendous acts of violence that the Darfurians have been facing for much to long. It is my hope that this message will reach you and influence you, along with others, to take a stand for Darfurians and aid them in their efforts of recovery. The tragedy in Darfur should be a priority and requires our immediate attention. Please help stop the genocide in Darfur and help Darfurians to restore their once beloved homes.
