Email this PetitionThe world nuclear stability depends upon deterrence. The reason other nations don't attack us is because of certain destruction when we return that attack. If we begin construction of an Anti Balisitic Missile Defense System, the incentive structure will change. Suddenly, nations will feel that they should attack immediately before their missiles lose their effectiveness, and hence they will lose their relative power. In addition to being a destabilizing force for the current International System, ABM defense systems, are also expensive, ineffecitive and not addressing the real dangers that we as a nation face today.
Tell the President you don't agree with a missile shield. It will not only start a new cold war, it will also endanger the whole planet...! Sign Now!

No Anti Balistic Missile Shield for the USA
We, the undersigned, with this petition, implore you to cease all efforts at developing an ABM defense system. We cannot accept a missile shield to protect the USA. Apart from being expensive and ineffective, it also has a severely destabilizing effect on the international system.
We cannot understand that the most powerful nation in the world still has not understood the international community's concern for the existence of over-secured place. For the international system, that results in danger for every single society, including the United States of America. People should realize that the world has made this mistake before (the Cold War), and we should open our eyes to prevent that something like that will happen again. Nobody knows what disastrous consequences a weapons race could have. Therefore do not make peace with weapons. Make peace with peace.
